Zion Canyon- Happy Camper

Last month we traveled to Utah and visited national parks of southern Utah. One of the highlight of our trip was a hike to Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. It is a 2.5 miles long but strenuous, and for the last half mile highly dangerous hike. When I completed it, I felt humbled and proud of myself. I wanted to create a scrapbook page or a painting to capture the beauty and memory of our hike.

When I saw Simon Says Stamp's Monday challenge this week, I saw a chance to create and share what I had in my mind for last two weeks. So, I merged paining and stamping (to create a quick, smaller version of my original idea) and made this card on Zion canyon.

I used watercolors for the paining. The tent and sentiment comes from a stamp set.

Angels's landing is at top of the fin like rock formation (in center left of the painting), with cliffs on sides and straight vertical drop at the edge. In 1916, one of the explorers of Zion Frederick Fisher exclaimed "Only an angel could land on it". And, I guess, since then it became a sort of challenge for humans to reach atop it!

The views of the canyons from above are incredible.

Zion was a clever connection to the challenge this week and your watercolor captures the beauty of the park perfectly. Congrats on making the hike and thanks for sharing the lovely views!
